Prithvi Mudra or Earth Mudra

Prithvi is also the term used for the Earth element in Ayurveda. Otherwise known as ‘Earth Mudra’, Prithvi mudra can be used to balance the Earth element, which is primarily within tissues, such as skin, hair and bones.

What is Prithvi Mudra?

Prithvi mudra is mainly used to increase the Earth element within the body. However, since the ring finger symbolizes the Earth element in the body and the thumb symbolizes Fire, this gesture can also be used to bring about balance between these two elements.

How to do the Prithvi Mudra:

Sit in a comfortable meditating posture  Sukhasana, Vajrasana, Padmasana or you can sit on a chair. Keep your eyes closed and take breathe deeply, calming your mind and body and in turn stimulating the prana in the body.

Join the tip of the ring fingers with the tip of thumb. Place your hands on your thighs just above knees with your palms facing the sky.
