Shakti, the divine feminine force is infused through the entire cosmos and permeates every aspect of our life. She is the power that creates life and lights the darkness and is seen in Hinduism as the supreme Goddess or Divine Mother. Her balancing force, Shiva, forms the masculine energy and together, they give us a sense of complete balance and oneness in our being.
Draw upon the feminine, dynamic Shakti energy to make space for new life, creation, and change. Unleash your own inner Shakti for the most powerful way to release your wild, feminine spirit and achieve your deepest desires and goals.

Why unleash your power?

Shakti is the creative force of the universe. We all are Spirit come into form; so, the more Shakti energy we can unleash, the more vital and successful our individual lives become. She exists within us to help us freely express, and she becomes the catalyst for change.

Yoga practices and the art of creativity helps you build or draw out the creative and generative power within you. So, tune in using any of the steps below that resonate with you and align with your divine feminine self.

Breathe Effectively

Our breath, Prana or life force, is Shakti. By focusing on our breath and using Pranayama techniques, we can begin drawing in more Shakti.
Alternate Nostril Breathing or Nadi Shodhana is a very useful Pranayama to increase Shakti and balance the movement of energy through the main channels or Nadis along the spine.

To practice Nadi Shodhana, sit in a meditative pose either cross legged or in Vajrasan or even on a chair.

  • Begin by curling your index and middle fingers into your palm (Vishnu Mudra)
  • Close the right nostril with your thumb
  • Inhale through the left nostril
  • Then close the left nostril with your ring finger and exhale through the right nostril
  • Inhale again through the right
  • Close the right nostril with your thumb and exhale through the left
  • Inhale left, close, exhale right
  • Inhale right, close, exhale left
  • Keep up this pattern of changing the closure on the exhalation for several more minutes.

Practice Shakti Mudra

The Shakti Mudra or Gesture of Power is a symbolic seal of the hands that’s often used to achieve a powerful serenity in the body and mind. It’s associated with Mula Bandha which grounds us and connects us to Mother Earth. This makes it the perfect way to tap into Shakti, the true mother of the Universe.

To form the Shakti Mudra:

  • Place both palms facing each other
  • Fold the two thumbs and press them against each palm
  • Curl the index and middle fingers over the thumb
  • Join the tips of the ring fingers and the little fingers and keep these two fingers straight

Use this Mudra during Pranayama – breathe deeply and focus on Shakti rising from the base of your spine.
Follow this Pranayama with a Meditation, using the Shakti Mudra while meditating.

  • Sit in any meditative posture, bring your palms together in Shakti Mudra and close your eyes
  • Visualize Shakti Energy coiled up at the base of your spine, in your Root or Muladhara Chakra.
  • As you inhale deeply, visualize this coiled energy uncoiling and traveling upwards through each chakra right up to the Crown or Sahasrara Chakra, lighting up and cleansing all the Chakras along its path.
  • Repeat for a few more times.
  • Relax and sit calm for a few minutes as you feel the intense vibration of the Shakti energy within you.

Develop a Yoga Asana Practice or Sadhana

A regular practice of Yoga or Sadhana is a potent way to reconnect with your inner power, your feminine energy.

Yoga asanas that stretch your hips, work on your pelvis, or those that activate the base of your spine are key to get your Shakti energy flowing. For optimal results focus on all postures that activate the Sacral or Svadhisthana and Root or Muladhara Chakras.

Balance your Sacral or Svadhistana Chakra with these Yoga Poses: Goddess Pose (Utkata Konasana), Reverse Warrior Pose (Viparita Virabhadrasana), Wide Legged Forward Bend (Prasarita Padottanasana), Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana) and Reclined Bound Angle Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana).

To balance your Root or Muladhara Chakra, practice these asanas: Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana), Warrior Pose (Virabhradrasana), Garland Pose (Malasana), Head to Knee Forward Bend (Janu Sirsasana) and Easy Pose (Sukhasana).

The practice of Yoga Asanas and Pranayama prepares you for deep contemplative Meditation (Dhyana) which allows you to move to spiritual awareness, where Shakti merges into the Universal Consciousness and we experience our true Self.

Activate Your Sacral Chakra & Get Creative

Of our seven chakras, the Sacral Chakra, located below the belly button, is the hub of creativity and feminine energy. To activate this chakra, breathe into your lower belly, and imagine it glowing orange with each inhale and exhale.

With your Shakti activated, look at the creative activities that ignite your imaginative fire. Do you love to play music, write, paint, sew, or simply dance like no one is watching?

Get creative and liberate your Shakti to feel free, fierce, authentic, and powerful.

Connect with your inner Shakti:

To stay connected with your inner power, learn to tune into yourself, the abundant powerhouse that you be, and to turn to it often.

  • Live with enthusiasm: Shakti embodies the energy of the warrior, the creator, the cosmic protector, and the empowering Mother. Imbibe these characteristics within you and live life with enthusiasm.
  • Plug your energy leaks: Anxiety, illness, overdoing, excessive speech, worrying, perfection, addiction – all lead to leaks of your precious Prana Shakti. Remain aware of your energy leaks and plug them and renew your energy using the techniques of breathing, meditation, yoga asanas and creativity.
  • Reclaim your personal power: Set boundaries in your life and learn to honour your own time and energy and know when to say no. Get to know your own needs and be fearless in expressing how you feel and what it is that you need. Prioritise and take care of yourself too.
  • Believe in yourself: Be filled with wonder at the amazing person you are, see your own greatness and find an unshakeable belief in yourself.

Explore your divine feminine essence and fill yourself with Shakti energy. Open yourself to this powerful experience and be filled with this living, life-giving, creative energy that surrounds you.

Go ahead, embrace your feminine divinity!
